What happened: The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) opened the application period for the first year of an $85 million Advanced Digital Construction Management Systems (ADCMS) grant program, which focuses on technologies such as computer modeling and 3D design to encourage state-of-the-art practices in project delivery.
Why it matters: ADCMS grants will be awarded to work promoting information-sharing, paper reduction, productivity improvements, and serves as models for deployment of digital construction technologies. State transportation departments, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico are eligible, ideally partnering with local governments, tribes, and private industry. ARTBA members have met with FHWA officials to help plan this initiative, which was created by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. (IIJA)
